Morton’s Bistro

Nestled in the charming village of Gilmorton, near Lutterworth, you can find Morton's Bistro. They offer a wonderful selection of food and drinks in a beautiful setting that immediately puts you at ease. Whether you prefer to sit indoors by the crackling open log fire, or enjoy the fresh air on their spacious outdoor patio, Morton's has you covered.

One thing that struck me right away was the warm and friendly atmosphere created by the staff. They were welcoming and presented themselves with utmost professionalism without acting stuffy. During our visit, the waitress took the time to discuss the menu with us in detail, and without needing much persuasion I opted for the Breakfast summer salad. The dish featured char-grilled english asparagus, crispy prosciutto, soft poached free-range eggs, nduja butter, lime avocado and hollandaise sauce. It was light yet satisfying - perfect for the warmer months.

Another aspect that sets Morton's apart is their family-friendly environment. It's an ideal spot for a relaxing meal with your loved ones, but it's also perfectly suited for a business lunch or meeting. The versatility of the bistro makes it a great choice for various occasions. I also appreciated the fact that Morton's welcomes dogs; they even have a dog bowl outside for furry friends.

Overall, Morton's Bistro is a gem of a place. With its charming location, inviting atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food, it ticks all the boxes for a memorable brunch experience. I highly recommend stopping by for a visit, whether you're a local or just passing through the area. You won't be disappointed!

Farndon Fields Farmer's Kitchen

Farndon Fields Farmer's Kitchen is a family-owned brunch spot in Leicester with a heartwarming story. It all began in 1983 when Kevin Stokes planted the seeds (literally and figuratively) for Farndon Fields Farm. As the farm grew, they decided to open their own restaurant, and I'm so glad they did!

The Farmer's Kitchen offers a range of brunch options. I couldn't resist trying their Farmer's Vegetarian Breakfast,  which includes courgette fritters, free-range eggs and grilled tomatoes.

Whether you're a meat lover or a dedicated vegetarian, the menu at Farndon Fields has something for everyone. I particularly rate their freshly made quiches and their iconic Ploughman's Lunch is also a must-try, showcasing the best of local produce and classic English favourites. As a tip: you might want to call up in advance, as this charming spot tends to get deservedly busy and they don’t take bookings.

Let me introduce you to Bowden Stores, a charming independent spot that I recently stumbled upon and instantly fell in love with. From Tuesday to Sunday, this place has great vibes and tasty, healthy(ish) food.

First things first, let's talk about coffee. Bowden Stores serves up some of the best coffee in Leicester. And if you're a fan of seasonal flavours, don't miss out on their irresistible pumpkin spice latte.

Whether you're in the mood for a breakfast burrito, or bacon roll, they've got it all. The best part? You can grab your brunch to go, making it perfect for picnics or road trips.

But here's the thing that sets Bowden Stores apart—they're not just a cafe. While you're there, take a moment to explore their store. It's a treasure trove of unique finds for your home. From lambswool blankets, twisted pastel candles and sustainable cleaning supplies you might just discover something that adds that special touch to your living space.

Keep in mind that Bowden Stores stops serving food at 3:00pm from Tuesday to Saturday, and at 2:30pm on Sundays. Also, they don't take reservations, so be prepared to find a cosy spot and savour the experience at your own pace.
