3 Cleaning Tips to Make Your Life Easier
We believe in working smarter not harder; we’re always looking for ways to make those irritating cleaning jobs, more efficient. Here are three of our favourite cleaning tips to make your life easier.
Use a washing-up liquid dispensing brush in your shower weekly
Showers can be a tricky to clean - especially if you’ve left it a while. One way to prevent it being an arduous job, is to leave a brush you can put washing-up liquid in, inside your shower. Once or twice a week (while showering) use it to give the inside of the shower a good scrub and rinse. Doing this prevents any product buildup on the tiles, or water marks on the glass, becoming a problem that takes a huge amount of time, effort and elbow grease, to rectify. If you can tolerate the smell of white vinegar, I would also recommend adding some in with the washing up liquid (3/1 vinegar) as it kills black mould without the need for harsh chemicals. I use the OXO grips brush (£8.49) as its robust - you can buy it here. A more budget friendly option is the original Dishmatic (£1) - you can buy it here.Use steam for easy microwave cleaning
Microwaves are another area that can be a challenge if left too long. One of the best ways to dislodge the grease, is to heat up a bowl of water to boiling (3 minutes should do!) and let the steam do the hard work for you. Then just carefully take the bowl out, remove the plate (wash that in your sink) and use a damp clean microfibre cloth with a little bit of washing liquid, to remove any food residue from the walls, roof and door. Go in with a second clean cloth that is very slightly damp and polish out any smears from the outside, in.Use a toothpick and paper towel to remove food debris from the edge of the hob
Those with an electric hob will know the little ridge where the glass meets the countertop is a nightmare to clean. Our solution is to take a single sheet of kitchen towel and fold it into quarters, before wrapping the toothpick ensuring the covered sharp edge is the smoothest point. Slowly pull it down one edge of the hob (repeat as necessary) and along the three other sides. You’ll be surprised how much hides in those gaps!
